How to Face the New Normality in Pediatric Dentistry
The world had gone through difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our profession and in particular our specialty, pediatric dentistry, had to accommodate to different challenges. After a period of lockdowns and extreme care to not get infected with the virus, we are now going back to normal. Probably we haven ́t experienced yet many of the consequences of the pandemic, but we need to be prepared for what may come: changes in the patterns of behavior of children (and parents) due to the extensive lockdown, changes in the dynamics of dental caries due to different dietary habits and hygiene practices, among others.

Revisiting the Pulp/Pulp Treatment Updates
Treatment of the pulp in pediatric patients is challenging, but rewarding. The pulp of primary teeth can be affected by caries, trauma, and the eruption of permanent successors. This lecture will explore the various ways to treat affected and infected pulp tissue. We will also explore ways to avoid pulpal inflammation and pain. Attention will also be given to the immature permanent tooth and how to avoid root canal therapy. Special emphasis will be given to practical solutions for maintaining vital pulp in the pediatric and adolescent patient.

Reading Children’s Faces
Early detection and intervention of malocclusion based on etiology
As many dentists drill holes and fill cavities without considering the causes of caries, so many orthodontists and pediatric dentists just align the teeth without considering the causes of malocclusion. As an anthropological view, malocclusion is a kind of modern diseases like myopia, diabetes, obesity and other metabolic diseases. As a pediatric dentist, we must understand the changes of environments and try to detect early sign of malocclusion especially through careful examination of faces.
In this lecture, we will review the etiologic factors of malocclusion, and how we can intervene by breathing exercise, muscle functional therapy and forward facial growth guidance.
